Phosphorus Metabolism and Yield Response to Increases in Nitrogen-Phosphorus Fertilization: Improvement in Greenhouse Cultivation of Eggplant (Solanum melongena Cv. Bonica)
نویسندگان
چکیده
The effect that application of nitrogen-phosphorus (NP) rates exerts on some parameters of phosphorus metabolism in eggplant (Solanum melongena cv. Bonica) was studied. All plants were grown under controlled conditions in an experimental greenhouse. The treatments consisted of the combination of three rates of N in the form of KNO3 (N1 ) 15 g m-2; N2 ) 22.5 g m-2; and N3 ) 30 g m-2) together with two rates of P in the form of H3PO4 (P1 ) 24 g m-2 and P2 ) 36 g m-2), for a total of six treatments. The results obtained show a positive effect of NP fertilization on the nutritional status of P in the plants, clearly reflected in the response of bioindicators of the P (acid phosphatase activity and carbohydrates). The plants treated with N3P2 registered greater integration or assimilation of inorganic P to organic P, a fact that may be related to the maximum total and commercial yield in these plants and minimum noncommercial yield.

Seedlings of aubergine (Solanum melongena L.) cv. ‘Rima’ were used as scion (R) and control (non-grafted) and rootstock (self-grafted) (RR), while two hybrid tomatoes ‘Heman’ (Lycopersicon hirsutm) and ‘Primavera’ (Lycopersicon esculentum) were used as rootstocks. Grafted and non-grafted plants were grown in the greenhouse and in the open-field. Grafted plants Rima and Heman (RH) were more vigo...

The application of zeolite to soils increases cation exchange capacity, and as increases nutrient retention capacity. Imbalanced nutrient management is one of the reasons responsible for low yield of potato in Iran. This study was carried out in research field of Islamic Azad University; Arak Branch at central of Iran to evaluate effect of zeolite particles and phosphorus fertilizer on agro-phy...

The effects of water deficit on plant growth, physiology and dry matter accumulation in the eggplant (Solanum melongena L. cv., Teorem F1) grown in pot were studied under out door conditions. Water stress was imposed by irrigating the plants with 80%, 60% and 40% of water needed to reach pot capacity (PC) in the soil. Control plants were irrigated 100% of PC. Water deficits increased leaf tempe...

Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is one of the solanaceous crops of economic and cultural importance and is widely cultivated in the state of Goa, India. Eggplant cultivation is severely affected by bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum that colonizes the xylem tissue. In this study, 167 bacteria were isolated from the xylem of healthy eggplant, chilli, and Solanum torvum Sw. by vacuum...
